ALMAS is proud to share that Saúl Olivas, one of our dedicated members and community advocates, has been selected as the Grand Marshal of the 2025 Fiestas Patrias Aurora Parade! The parade will take place on Sunday, September 7 at 11:00 AM in downtown Aurora.
Born in Aurora to immigrant parents from Durango, Mexico, Saúl is a first-generation Latino college graduate who has dedicated his life to education, equity, and community service. He currently serves on the East Aurora School District 131 Board of Education and has been active in numerous organizations, including the Aurora Lions Club, the Dominican Literacy Center, and ALMAS.
Through his leadership, Saúl has championed literacy, civic engagement, and opportunities for the next generation. His work reflects the mission of ALMAS to celebrate Latino and Hispanic cultures, foster community, and empower leadership across the suburbs.
As the first Latino-led, Latino-serving nonprofit based in Naperville, ALMAS serves DuPage and Will Counties and includes members from Aurora, which spans both DuPage and Kane Counties. Saúl’s recognition as Grand Marshal highlights the pride, resilience, and leadership of our Latino and Hispanic communities.
Join us in congratulating Saúl Olivas on this honor, and be sure to cheer him on at the Aurora Fiestas Patrias Parade!
