We’re excited to share some important news: State Bill 2270: Latina and Latino Studies in the K–12 Curriculum is moving forward—and we need to stand together to support it.
This bill is about more than academics. It’s about:
Acknowledging Latina and Latino communities across Illinois
Addressing historical gaps in education
Ensuring students and families feel seen, validated, and empowered
Building a foundation for future generations
Passing this legislation would be an incredible step forward for equity, representation, and justice in education. It affirms the work so many of us have been doing in our communities to celebrate cultures, build trust, and empower the next generation.
Let’s support this bill and make sure Latinx histories, cultures, and contributions are taught, celebrated, and remembered.
