Heritage in Action

ALMAS' Heritage in Action program celebrates the rich history, identity, and contributions of Latino cultures through a dynamic series of events. These celebrations foster cultural pride, belonging, and unity while creating meaningful spaces for exploration, learning, and intergenerational connection. By bridging the past and present, Heritage in Action helps ensure that Latino traditions not only endure but thrive—honoring legacy, inspiring future generations, and uplifting the vibrant diversity within the Latino community.

HIGHLIGHTS

Cultural Celebrations: ALMAS hosts a variety of events throughout the year that celebrate the richness of Latino cultures. One such event, "The Olmec Legacy: Art, Culture, and Influence," was ALMAS' extension of the “Olmec Trails: Culture and Legacy” exhibit, organized by the Mexican Cultural Center - DuPage and its partners. In collaboration with the city of Naperville and other community partners, ALMAS hosted two of the Olmec head sculptures in Naperville.

Global Cultural Exploration: ALMAS invites families of all backgrounds to explore and celebrate cultural traditions from across Latin America through interactive games and activities that promote learning, connection, and appreciation. At events like Games Around the World during Naperville’s Kite Fly Festival, ALMAS highlights these traditions through fun, hands-on games that engage participants of all ages.
