Our First Annual Report: A Moment to Reflect and Recommit

This year marks an important milestone for ALMAS with the release of our first-ever Annual Report, reflecting our second year of building community, culture, and connection together.

When ALMAS was founded in April 2023, the vision was simple but powerful: to create space for Latino voices, stories, and leadership in the suburbs. What has unfolded since then has been shaped not only by programs and events, but by relationships, trust, and collective care.

This Annual Report offers a snapshot of that journey. It highlights how ALMAS has grown from individual events into more focused program areas centered on cultural enrichment, youth leadership, and civic empowerment. It also reflects the deeper and often unseen work of listening to community needs, creating spaces for healing and dialogue, and showing up consistently even when the work is complex or challenging.

Throughout the year, we celebrated Latino cultures openly and joyfully, supported youth in stepping into leadership, strengthened partnerships across DuPage and Will Counties, and created spaces where community members could gather, learn, and connect. We also navigated moments that required reflection, adaptability, and care, reminding us that community building is not linear but deeply human.

This report is not just a record of what we have done. It is a reflection of what becomes possible when community leads and when culture, dignity, and belonging are centered in our work.

We are deeply grateful to the members, youth, volunteers, partners, donors, and supporters who have walked alongside ALMAS during this foundational period. Your trust and commitment have made this work possible.

As we move forward, we remain committed to building an inclusive and empowered community that honors our diverse roots while continuing to imagine and shape a more just and connected future.
