About the event
Our Voices, Our Minds is a youth-led initiative created by ALMAS in partnership with North Central College and local BIPOC youth. Each year, the program explores a theme centered on the lived experiences of BIPOC youth to foster dialogue, understanding, and healing.
This year’s theme, immigration and mental health, highlights the emotional, cultural, and systemic challenges faced by immigrant youth of color.
The event features youth-led panels, expert discussions, and interactive activities that engage participants in meaningful and creative ways. Designed to be inclusive and accessible, the program offers language support and a welcoming space for all members of the community.
Nuestras Voces, Nuestras Mentes es una iniciativa liderada por jóvenes, creada por ALMAS en colaboración con North Central College y jóvenes locales BIPOC. Cada año, el programa explora un tema centrado en las experiencias vividas por jóvenes BIPOC para fomentar el diálogo, la comprensión y la sanación.
El tema de este año, inmigración y salud mental, resalta los desafíos emocionales, culturales y sistémicos que enfrentan los jóvenes inmigrantes de color.
El evento incluye paneles dirigidos por jóvenes, conversaciones con expertos y actividades interactivas que involucran a los participantes de maneras significativas y creativas. Diseñado para ser inclusivo y accesible, el programa ofrece apoyo lingüístico y un espacio acogedor para todos los miembros de la comunidad.
